Autism on Oprah Show

Well, My tears are now dry but I am still touched and grateful for the Oprah show today. I like Oprah ok, I catch her show about 1x every other week I do not agree w/ her 100%. I just happened to catch the second half of her show today, it was on Autism. One in every 150 children is effected. I was so grateful to hear the honest portrayal of parents and their autistic children... the ups, the downs, the heartaches, and Joys . The ultimate frustration of the unknown cause and of Drs not knowing how to diagnose and advise.

I loved what one Mom expressed : If you see a child acting out and it is possible it is not just poor behavior, the right thing to do would be ask "can I give you a hand?" or just give a knowing kind smile:). But the right thing to do is never to stare and stare again and again... never is it helpful to say "can't you control that child?".. I so hope that those who saw this program take heed and teach their childeren that all people have value.
People are like these pictures of the roses in my yard they are all beautiful... some more obvious than others, some not as pretty but smell so good, some have obvious flaws but create beauty from inside...........
and some are even more beautiful because of their flaws ...........

ok, the tears are flowing again. So my hope is for us appreciate the world and the people in it in all shapes and sizes, to not stare, but to also not miss out on the beauty and love within .

What beautiful pictures and even more beautiful sentiment! How wonderful it is to be able to connect to how others are thinking or feeling...I think that is part of the lure of blogging, as well.

We are all special~and we need to remember that all around us are, too! :)
