Thursday Thirteen Do you like Whimsy?

I think I have a somewhat traditional home. Then,I had family in over the weekend and they pointed out the whimsical things I had scattered, even somewhat hidden around the house, -- hmmm -- I guess I do like whimsy. I like the little suprise of seeing something that makes me smile. I had a friend, who has long since moved away, who helped influence me on this.

Frogs like flowers

And the rain?

There's no monkeying around on this shelf

This mouse is always welcome in this house

I can 'bearly' believe this was made w/a chainsaw

She looks so thoughtful

I often think this is real when I come on the porch in the dark:>

Do you think she is reading about how to catch a human?

Watering the carpet At the top of my steps

Rainbow fish In my bathroom

MY neices think this Indian polar bear On the hearth is a pig

on the plant shelf

Do frogs read In your dining room?

What do you have that is whimsical?

I keep a rubber duckie on my desk to remind me never to take myself too seriously...does that count?

That's quite the menagerie you have!

Oh, cute! Most of the whimsical things in my house take the form of artwork by my kids--the paper mache cat, the origami fish, etc.

What a collection. I don't have many figurines, worried about little fingers breaking them.

I have a turtle and an elephant in my bedroom. I need some of those cool things you have. I really like them.

Going shopping now. No, not really, but wishing i could.

The frog with the umbrella is my favorite. My bit of whimsy is in the kitchen. It's a little wooden doll with straw hair sticking out maniacally this way and that, and her shirt says, "Housework makes you crazy!"

We've got a stone lion...it's more modern than whimsy, but I think it should count. By the way, I decided I didn't have enough time to make pumpkin cake (since I get off work at 5:00 and have to be there by 6:30), so I'm making a pumpkin dip. I'll let you know how it turns out.

What would be a home without these little personal things ? Just a showroom !

What a neat T13! All of those whimsical things are so cute -- I particularly like the frogs! :-D

I have quite a few whimsical things, too -- three sparkly plastic spiders, a skeleton of cro-magnon man, and a musical kitty who sings the blues. ;)

Happy T13, and thanks for visiting mine!

That's a nice collection, they do like to read, don't they. I especially like the polar bear, I had a smaller one that fell when we were packing and is no longer.

I have a rooster made out metal from old cars. He sits above my cabinets in the kitchen. I don't know how to link a specific post, but it is the june 9, 2007 post.

We have a cast-iron terrier that we use as a door stop. It's back leg is raised as if it's about to pee on the door!

Nice list. Happy TT!

these are SO CUTE. I covet the polar "pig" and the rainbow fish, but all of them are good. It's a little whimsy zoo...

What a fantastic TT! I love #5, the woodcarved bear (yes, hard to believe about the chainsaw), #10 the sparkly fish and #11 the polar bear best of all.
I have so much whimsy myself, where do I start? A few personal faves are the kitchen witch which is a Halloween decoration my great aunt gave me, but I leave her up all year; the 'Hello my baby, hello my honey' singing frog from Bugs Bunny on our video/DVD shelf; and a tiny ceramic angel holding a heart with 'destiny' printed on her skirt. My cousin and my sister have identical angels to mine.

With this many things, I'd be forever worried that, like those odd kids movies of the seventies and eighties... and to a degree, nineties and Y2k... someone would errantly read some spell and WHAMMO! Everything is alive and ticked at being "dead weight" for so long! :)

I have a black lab watching over us from in front of the tv. I guess I should walk around and see what else I have.

Enjoyed the pictures!
