Thursday Thirteen Why l love Rain

We have had some rain and thunder storms this week they are quite the event here in TX. They are BIG,loud and can be dangerous, like most of TX, but I love it!!
1.I love the clouds changes will it rain or not?

2.Oh yes, I love the anticipation of a big storm.

3.It will help heal the earth of the punishing affects of the TX sun.

4.It replenishes our small streams and lakes.

5.Driving is not fun.

6.And everything is muted and grey.

7. So it gives a good excuse to stay inside and read a fun book.

Then comes the beauty after.
8. The beauty and AWE of rainbows.

9.The showcasing droplets on our plantings.

10.The mud that can be fun.

11.The nourishment to life--water for the plants and beauty for the soul.

12.The beauty of it moving out ...

13...is just as beautiful as it moving in. We need it- it comes wet, loud and the earth is clean and refreshed, - it leeaves. I am grateful, I love rain.

That was 13, but when it freezes(so rarely here) I love it too. Can you believe winter and Christmas are only 2 months away?

I feel a little silly for admitting this, but I got a little teary eyed looking at all those wonderful pictures! I'm in Arizona, so I know of the thunderstorms you speak of...yet we don't get them very often! Our monsoon seasons have been pretty pitiful lately.

Thanks for sharing those beautiful pics!

Gorgeous pictures of the sky. We've been getting storms in the Midwest but all during the dark of night where they couldn't be visually appreciated it. I loved seeing your photos to make up for it. :)

Happy TT

Rain is my very favorite weather condition. I always joke around that I should live in Seattle instead of a desert! We're desperately in need of rain, too and it will be so nice to see. I was priviledged to see one of your southern storms several years back. I was amazed at the amount of lightening and thunder! I loved it!!!
Thanks for the beautiful photos...

Great photos. Sometimes I love rain when it is warm and refreshing. Other times not so much...I don't like the frigid rain you get when it is too warm to snow.

What a great photo essay! I lived in Texas when for several of my elementary school years. One of my favorite memories was a flood. Our backyard had these huge pits (that drove my mom crazy)that filled with water. It was so warm that my sister and I "swam" for hours.

I didn't realize you would know "Love is Spoken Here". It's nice to know that about you! =)

What beautiful photos. I live in Scotland and we get a lot of rain! It can be easy to grow disaffected by it, so it's good to read a post like this which reminds me to see the positive in the rain.
Thanks for visiting my TT, btw.

I hope this gratitude for rain acts as a rain dance and brings some one. It's so trying right now and we need it so badly here.

Gorgeous pictures! And that you can appreciate the beauty of a storm -- I had a hard reminder this summer of how much I've stopped appreciating storms. Once again, I love them.

Thanks for the (latest) reminder!

Happy TT; thanks for stopping by!

G'day from Australia,

Some lovely shots there. We've had a severe drought for the past few years, so I looked at your rain shots with envy!!

Congratulations on your calling! My husband and I have been in the Primary together for almost three years now and before that I was the Primary chorister for three years (I MISS that calling). I think maybe the P word is stamped across my forehead!

I know you have heard this several times, but those are some really beautiful pictures. I love watching the rain too. Of course I wouldn't say I love it, as I live in Wyoming and the rain is SO cold here!

That was absolutely beautiful! Lightening is my favorite part of a thunderstorm, although the rainbows are nice too!

We need so bad...our yard is all cracked and dry too. And all it did was sprinkle a bit today!

I used to like the rain too till I got arthritis, now it just gives me pain. But I do like being indoors, in the warm & comfy listening to rain patter on the window.

I, too, love the rain. Sitting on a covered porch outside, huddled beneath a blanket to keep dry and watching the forces of nature is refreshment to my soul!

Found you on David McMahon's blog. Great TT!

What a popular friend I have! 59 comments? 60 now with mine! I love rain here in TX also. Heard about your calling even though we were gone Sunday. Good luck. You will be incredible. Let me know if there is anything that I can do to help you out. :)

And then there's the after-rain smell too!

Anonymous said...

I second nicholas's opinion--after rain smell! That's what I like best about rain. Oh, and also when you say it's a perfect excuse to stay in and read. Sooo nice to read with a hot cuppa while the rain is lashing down outside. Mmmmm...

What a great TT! Love all the photos as it gives me a quick snapshot (pardon the pun) on what life is like in your corner of the world.

Thanks for stopping by! Have a great weekend, XINE
