Thirsday Thirteen #28 Do you know anything about Salt and Pepper Shakers?

These salt and pepper Shakers belonged to my Grandmother who passed away in 1978 I think it was? She was a spirited, fun grandma-w/ a sharp wit and a good heart.

What a wonderful collection of s & p shakers! My MIL had a few items in her stash that had "made in occupied Japan" on them. You can tell the age by that stamp, or just plain Japan or made in Japan. I think the plain Japan are the oldest then "made in occupied Japan" I think there are people out there that collect anything with the "made in occupied Japan" TMI? Regardless this is a great collection of memorbilia...enjoy

I can't help in your quest, but I was deeply moved by this list.

For the second time this morning, a Thursday Thirteen triggered my mind back into a recurring dream. I saw these last night in my sleep. Thanks for reminding me!

I swear you have some of the most random collections I've ever seen. Where do you keep all of these? I only saw the normal metal ones while I was there!

No. 6 cracks me up! These are lovely and whimsical shakers. Did she do ceramics as well as collect? Great selection.

Cool collection! We like to watch Antique Roadshow..but I don't know anything about salt and pepper shakers. I especially liked the "Here Lies Salt and Here Lies Pepper" ones though.

Hi! I love your collection, they are cute. I don't see any Shawnee pottery as we talked about and that's mostly what I collect.

The Occupied Japan set is very collectable because of the time period it is from, when Japan was occupied by the allies in WWII.

I'd start a search at the library for pottery books (Wade, Roseville, Brush, McCoy, etc), collectable S & P books,.

I found a pair that sook similar to your tomato set here:http://www.rubylane.com/shops/vintageveranda/item/PC2303.

And the first blue pair under the horses look very similar to these

Sorry I couldn't be any more help.

Love your collections! I have a few "made in occupied Japan" things that I got from my grandma, too. I have no idea what they're worth, if anything. I wish I'd asked her where she got them. Were they a gift? Did she see them at the dime store and think they were cute? So many unasked questions....

#11 the pretty blue ones are my favorites, but they're all cute. The bowling pin & ball especially. My friend's sister collects salt & pepper shakers but purely for quirky value. Really enjoyed your TT!
