Thursday Thirteen #42 Artwork -American to Asian.
My daughter is an artist her work ranges from the professional looking to the childlike, from realism to modern, -American to Asian. Doodles to months of detailed work -- I am so in awe of her talent and that she can express in her art all those parts that are in her mind and heart that she can not express verbally but does so .well on paper w/paint, oil pastels or pencils. Does any one have any in put on how to photograph art work better?

You forgot about the beautiful rose that is hanging in our apartment. You really need to come and see it someday... then you can take a picture and include it in your next post!
Marcia, when I was back, back in time, at Michigan State U, I worked as an intern and student producer at WKAR-TV. We often had to photograph graphics in order to convert them to slides for out filmchain. We had a photo- copystand for just this purpose, but the setup is simple enough to do at home, really. Get a decent tripod for your digital camera, and lock down the camera on it, framed on a drafting board or an easel where you will put the artwork to be photographed. If your camera has a delay for the shutter, use it. (two seconds, ten, whatever the camera provides for.) This will prevent any camera shake when you trip the shutter. (I got my latest tripod for $38 because it was a closeout display model, and I have had my drafting boards for ages. This technique may take a bit of trial and error, but you will quickly get good results. Try not to use a flash if you can avoid it...use a lamp or daylight to light the work.. Experiment, and have a good time!

I mirror your awe, those are wonderful. My stick figures aren't always recognizable, so artistic talent with pencil and paint always amazes me. :)
