Thursday Thirteen #45 13 candles from our current power outage

We have had 2 blackouts today one for about 45 minutes at dinner time so we ordered pizza and another about blackout @ 8:45 when I should have been sewing so my post is late and my sewing is not getting done
1.
But it actually was fun the kids had fun finding all the candles because 6 wasn't enough we had to have two in the bathroom
2.

Numerous on the kitchen /dining room counter
3.

these on the music stand
4.
the fireplace
5.
The front table

6.
The stairway banister--some looked better w/o flash
7.
and some w/ the flash- by the way this one did not cool us off like it looks like it should:)

My husband was preparing a lesson for church by candlelight I thought it looked just fitting
8.
I liked the reflection on my dresser mirror from these two
9.

the one in my bathroom reflecting on my useless electric plugs
10.
I like the shadows on the wall

11.
and the souvenir shelf
12.

We just had to have one on the garage freezer
13.
and the washing machine but they didn't help them run
14.
Actually every one should have a short blackout occasionally to unplug and just enjoy the candlelight. I especially like the wind with the doors open and also how it danced w/ the flames.

I don't think we have 13 candles in this house. Happy TT.

I don't think I could find my candles in the dark to light them. I really should at least have a flashlight or something accessible.

Power outages can be blessings in disguise so long as there are plenty of candles and everyone is safe! Beautiful, Marcia. Good luck with the sewing.

Even though it was surely inconvenient...it seems that you had a nice time with your family in the cozy candlelight. Such a nice memory.

I love candlelight. When I shared a house with my brother - we'd often just do candles around the house. Much nicer than blaring electric light.

Happy TT-13

Smiles,

Hi Marcia -- you (a lady) must be the caretaker of the emergency lighting, those are so pretty.
Here, we have a nice Coleman lantern and some on sale candles in a globe wrapped in a net that has become brittle.

I do intend to update for a battery LED Coleman lantern(s) that doesn't(don't) smell up the house. I hoping to get that done before huricane season, that is the only time we lose powere here north of Houston. Our utilities are underground so no storm tree damage or lightening hits locally.

I agree with you....enjoy the candlelight!! And the two photos I really, REALLY like is the one with the Bible and the one that has the photo in the background. Some great snapshots you've share here for us today.

I think I have a candleholder like the one in #7 in my reading nook. Our bedroom is FULL of candles--we frequently turn off the lights and have all the candles lit for romantic moods. ;-)

This is a lovely T-13 and reminds me why I keep candles and matches everywhere throughout my house. I also keep some battery operated lanterns handy.

Thanks for visiting my OSI post at Sacred Ruminations.
Hugs and blessings,

Marcia, I would be able to find maybe 4 candles to fend against the darkness. Your candles and candle holders are gorgeous! :D

We get power outages usually in the summer after thunderstorms, so I have several candles around just in case. It really is fun -- especially if you have an "ace in the hole" battery powered sump pump and don't have to worry about the house flooding!! Great pictures too! Happy TT and thanks for stopping by!

I guess this is one of those moments where you can say, "When life gives you lemons, make lemondae." In your case, find 13 candles. Fun TT!!

PS - I love candles, too.

I love lighting a lot of candles in my home, but not because of a power outage!
Thanks for visiting my grandmothers TT.

Power outages are the worst. They seem to occur more often in the area in which I have lived since 2006. Luckily, I kept the candles I had from an old girlfriend because they have come in handy.
