13 things I learned in my photography class (in no order)
photography is threefold Science-technical and art --trying to keep all in mind
1. how to take florescent st night (very slow shutter since they pulse)
2.moving in close makes a whole new Photograph w/ a whole new interest
3.and makes inanimate objects more abstract
4. Showing motion while keeping the background clear(bulb shutter speed)h
5."Catching " an image takes being on the right settings before hand so your camera is in ready for where you are
6.Rule of thirds trying not to put subjects dead center creates more interest
7.When taking people outsidein daylight still use flash (you may want them to take off glasses) or not
8. all night time photography requires a tripod
9.How to balance golden glow of lights at night
(tungsten white balance)
10.When shooting objects w/ extra light such as faceted "jewels circle the item to see where you get the best shot
11.to get sharper B&W images shoot in monochrome off your camera's menu
12.When photographing food it is all about lighting
13.Good Studio shots require Very Good Lighting
andtake what you love even if it doesn't follow all the "rules"
What I learned most is I have a lot more to learn-- but I will have fun Practicing!!!

Love that first shot! And this is SO true: "take what you love even if it doesn't follow all the rules"!
Marcia, it's incredible how muchh you've learned and thank you for showing it to us! I'm very grateful! :)
Yes, Marcia. Thanks to share your tricks of photographer. I'll use some of them.
I'm convinced that taking good pictures is half a personal vision of things, like an intuition, or feeling. The other half is technics. You already get the first half, I've seen it before your lessons in your blog. And you're learning the second.
Me, since I'm mostly intuitive, I don't really have the time to "prepare" technically my shot. But I'll try.
Hope you'll share 13 others things about your photography class, it's very interesting.
What great pictures! I love the neon ones, I live near Roanoke VA & they have a couple of beautifully restored neon signs there which I've been trying to photograph for years but can't quite get any good pictures (of course, all I have is a cell phone camera, eventually though, I'm going to get a decent digital camera & then watch out!)
I love the pictures, and that you shared what you've learned. Very nice.
What great tips!! I always wanted to take a photography class!!! Continue to post your work!!
good for you for keeping learning! I love that about you! I think photography takes a certain eye - which you definitely have.
Great tips! I learned a lot today! Thank you for sharing these with us!! =)

I really like your pictures. I recognize 2 pictures. I'm pretty sure that girl and those hands are related to me.:)
Keep up your great posts.
Super tips that you've shared with us. Now, I do have a question...when you say 'circle' the jewels that are faceted...you mean walk around them until you find the correct light? Awesome!!!!
My 13 is up now, if you'd like to take a break from your everyday chores...come on over for a visit, and have a great Thursday.
I want to have someone teach me to really get the most out of my camera. I'm really envious of all you're learning; you were a terrific photographer before. I can't wait to see how good you get!
I love black and white photos. Sounds like you're having fun. My daughter loves taking pictures. Happy T13!
Love all the photo's. Thanks for sharing the tips. I've been trying to learn about my new camera and how to take better shots. This really helps.
Wow, you've learned a lot in your class. Great pictures.
I crave your knowledge! Wonderful, wonderful shots. The gold balance for the night shot is really striking.
Okay, the last one is by far my favourite... and all the images are WONDERFUL!
I attended photo courses in July, but with all the technical help you have today with photoshop I realized that even the worst picture can became a master piece, lol !
so are you done with your class now?
Those are great tips! I love photography. I've taken a couple of courses and I'd love to take more.
I don't know why I can't convince people of the "move closer" theory. :) People always want to stand way back to take photos. You'd be surprised how much you can get in a frame. :)
I enjoyed your pictures!
This is a very cool post! I know very little about photography - aside from my own home & vacation photos - so this was quite interesting for me. :)
Happy Thursday to you & thanks for dropping by my TT!
Great pictures! You learned a lot it looks like. I never took a photography class, but it sounds like fun. Happy TT!
