Weekend Snapshot.--Where do the roots of your Family Tree take you?

visit more:

We went to a program at my sisters church on our family heritage
i konw for some this sounds dry -but I thoroughly enjoyed myself
this flag shows a family tree w/ two little apples in (totally appropriate)Kerchief material representing the couple here in TX away from the rest of the family.

there was a family Parade to start to include the children understanding where some of there relatives came from

there was some live music then a short Program this man did a dramatic/comedic presentation on his great grandfather who married his bride very young and traveled to America from Mexico

This is the geneolgy he has unearthed so far

This energetic cutiehad a ancestor that used to

perform during intermissions of silent movies so
she did a Charleston for us to remember her

My sister has done so much Family History that we have learned we are way more German than we thought

her husbands heritage is Puerto Rican

She did an awesome dramatic performance that took us back to the time just before, during, and after our Grandfathers Grandmother came by ship from Europe to America- She had the accent down so well-I think she belongs to the part of our family that got the acting gene. I was moved to tears as she asked in character if anyone would remember her as she came from the familiar into this unknown country of hope- AMERICA!

the evening conclude w/ the events coordinator also doing a moving presentation of her ancestor who had to bury over half her children in her lifetime

What a great story. Genealogy definitely links the past to the present and helps us realize our place here.

Interesting indeed. We are also in the midst of doing our genealogy and it is not easy but very enlightening. It also brings the family closer, I think. It's always nice to know about your roots, good or bad.

I luv geneology!! My sis has (white)daughters who have only wanted to date black men. When they did their geneology they discovered way back when they actually have black relatives. They weren't just attracted but atually had it in their DNA. All 3 of her daughters have married black men. Wonderful people. Interesting huh?
