Pioneer Day Celebration

I went to my sisters ward activity to recognize the pioneer way of life and have fun while doing so. There was a woman demonstrating spinning yarn it was fascinating--

the children all had fun eating breakfast, running, and playing games.  (This is a grand nephew and nephew)they were excited to win prizes 

for winning in games like cricket tossIt was so surprising to see how fun the laundry game was the concentration

and joy

   (I should have brought my towels)                                                                           and the stick pull game was the favorite ---my nephew was running it --and he challengedmy sister and me to try-- I love competition-- all in good fun till someone gets hurtI felt so bad --my back hurt too -- can we blame my nephew for the challenge?

My daughter and I made 48 jars of jam

Strawberries are such a good price now ($1.38a quart) it is a good time to make jamwe had peaches from the peach festival/ we peeled and pitted them

diced them- boiled w/the pectin/mixed in the sugar boiled againoh and we boiled up the pits and peels and strained  it for a different batch of jelly

after the boiling you fill the jars and put the lids on and transfer to the canning rack

into the canning water bath  and after 10 minutes you have preserved jars of jamthe three colors of the Strawberry, peach, and peach pitwhen all was said and done my daughter was better at it than me and it was her first time:)

Transparent apple

  my sister brought me one of our very beloved, quite tart, transparent apples





since there was just one I wanted to savor it so I took a picture-- I just sat in on my laptop and this is what I got--- I liked it-but not quite as much as eating  the apple itself:)   I wonder why we can't get them here in Texas?

Weatherford TX hosts theParker county peach Festivaland many crafts that made me chuckle

   

Its fun to people watch  and we bought the best peaches I have ever eatenmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmLooking at Antiques was fun too
