The Secret Life of Bees book review and Walk

Today I took a walk for the first time since my knee surgery. It was awesome to be out again , hard mind you, and very hot, but I took my camera w/ me to see if I could find anything interesting.

I did! I found this busy bee and thought it ironic since just yesterday I finished reading the book The Secret LIfe of Bees .

I also saw lots of these, is it a damselfly,I think it is?

and this exotic flower?

I enjoyed this book set in 1964 South Carolina during the civil rites movment. Sue Monk Kidd weaves the care and tending of bees and honey w/ lifes hard work, heartaches, and joys. There is compassion, personal tragedy, self discovery, fallng in love of different ages and the sweetest message of the different mother figures in our life and developing personal faith. I am sure some could dwell on the different religous practices, as they were odd, but I found it interesting and recommend it for the story. It also made me less afraid of this bee.

Read it and loved it. I loved the way the women supported each other.
