WOW, this is a powerful photo. I assume she is receiving the flag because of the loss of a loved one in the service of our country? An important reminder to us all, thank you for posting it. Thanks to all the veterans for their service and sacrifice!

Marcia, I'm so sorry your family was touched directly with a loss.
This celebration was certainly highly moving. Very sad for your mother.
You asked if our family lose someone, my great grandfathers partipated to WWI, they came back alive but very shocked about what they've seen.
Grandfathers were at WW2, and my father had not the perfect age to participate to the following colonial ones (Indochine or Algerie), my father in law was in Algerie during 2 years of his youth !
None of them were engaged voluntarily, they just have been called because of their age.
Sometimes saying nothing says everything..

I remember that day all too well.Mom looks so young. Whatever happened to all the pics everyone took at the funeral home of us siblings? I never have seen themhat was my first time ever in Texas.
