Ruby Tuesday
my World
When I was a young girl I had to walk about a mile to school
each morning, home for lunch- back to school, and home again!!
This was in all sorts of Ohio weather
I would yearn to fly --the skill of a bird, to float high above the
ground and travel almost effortlessly the long distance
to school and back.......
drinking from sprinklers I could master, and did:)
but never could I chase an airplane
or even have a chat w/ a friend atop a lightpost.
Ahh the life of a bird!

Nice and appropriate title!
Yep, those birds got it made. This made me smile. Thanks.
Yes, the birds to have it made and get a view of the world that we may never enjoy and you made me smile as well! Lovely shots, great post!
A lovely photo essay!
I love the bird squawking at the sprinkler. :)
Happy RT!
Hey JIMG, Texas birds fair far better than Ohio birds! That is unless they are Ohio Snow Birds.
I did what you did for school but in Nebraska. One thing harder, we had up hills and down hills also.
Happy RT,
..
I soo love the bird and the sprinkles. It looks so cute. You captured it well. I walked to school too, (short distance about 200 meters) walk home for lunch and back to school again for the afternoon classes. Ah...those were the days. Thanks for sharing your world.
What a wonderful post! I'll be smiling all day just thinking about it! Love the bird at the sprinkler and the photo chasing a plane! All of the shots were great along with the commentary. Thanks!
It may have seemed like a mile but it was actually more like an half mile.......
I love to watch birds soar. So much freedom. So much peace. So much beauty.
Yes, in dsys of yore the legs were short and the way to school so very lng, both in the heat of summer and the deep cold of winter all wrapped up like a rolly-poly. Yet we were the better for the exercise it you see the soft, fat, yout of today who have to be driven everywhere.
The life of a bird—
may I live it in my dreams
(but keep cats away!).
My Ruby Tuesday
I LOVE the poem/story about Holland. Where did you find it? One friend of ours gave it to another dear friend and it helped her out! She told me the story, but I am such a visual person I liked seeing/reading it!
Thanks!
fantastic shots!
I can't believe you had to use up your lunch hour going back and forth - we stayed in the school yard
