I'm thinking for this weeks Photo hunt people are posting
Halloween bags-- but we are not going trick- or- treating
this year so I thought I'd trick you and show you my old bag
which has lost 5 of its six legs

and the treat I got --My new bag that is soft and brown.

At the Luray Caverns their is a transportation Museum
this is one of the cars from there I love the lantern headlights

The first evening in Luray we walked the small downtown


area and enjoyed how the whole area was decorated
there were several of these displays on the city bridge

we ate here the food was VERY good

we were impressed that folks could leave this stuff outside
there businesses and no one bothered it

We have been to Several caverns in the
US before :Carlsbad in NM is most impressive
and InnerSpace in TX is much smaller
The Luray Caverns hit the middle
between the two we had seen previously




This was so impressive but I could not get a great shot the
water was reflecting the ceiling so it looked as if the growths went up and down

some looked like frosting

they called these bride and groom

some resembled curtains

this is the Ghost that glows and seems to follow you:)


These were at the end --
broken off Stalagmites that were here forever ,
people used to touch them for good luck and
now they ask you not to touch the fried eggs:)

I wonder how much time is invested in getting these boots
on or the whole uniform and then the horse tack as well

It seems to me they work hard to get ready to go out
and work even harder.

SKywatch My new Favorite

This building was next to our hotel in Maryland and I snapped this out the car window as we were leaving. I truly could not tell on the Camera viewing screen were the building ended and the beautiful sky began

MY Worldand Ruby Tuesday Skyline drive Virginia

We got to go up the skyline drive in Virginia 2 weeks ago we hoped for Fall color
but ...

the closer we drove the color was not changing

we stopped on the road for apples and sarsaparilla

they were so fresh! The owner said just delivered the day before from local orchards YUMMMy!!

then we saw a little color

and got hopeful for the next days hiking




when we drove up to our hotel we saw this lovely sky I will post more of these on sky watch Friday


we went out to a park and caught these shots



then the next day we started out


and were greeted by this beauty at the trailhead of Marys peak (I think)




before hiking/ love my timer

along the trail


we took their picture and they took ours


two vistas from the trail We know we were early for peak color but it was still beautiful

can you see the tiny road

you know me I love red and i loved these creepers I hope they did not hurt the trees

the timer is only as good as the rock I set it on:)

these stone walls were at each overlook on our way down
