hiking was glorious
my yard was heavily laden
but after 10 -12 inches in an area that gets a dusting that does not stick once a year
it was too much and branches were breaking everywhere
so we knocked off the beautiful heavy snow to protect our trees(much needed for summer shade)
Add 40 degrrees and sunshine and this snow covered anomoly looks
almost back to normal 2 days later:(

It looks beautiful, but like us here in Southern England, I guess you're not set up to deal with that amount of snow! We didn't have as much as you, but on the mainland there were places that had as much if not more. And no, it didn't melt in two days! Hope your weather gets back on track soon.

Terrific shots, Marcia! Right after I read an earlier post of yours about the snow, my son in Dallas called to tell me about all the snow they had there! But you're right, it doesn't hang around long. Sure was beautiful while it was there though!

I think it's very unusual in Texas. We've had snow in December, January and again in February.
Marcia: That was such a strange happening in your world. Our trees see this so often that they withstand the snow.
I must admit I am very surprised to see Texas looking like Canada! Hope it melts soon. :)

Yep just across the border here in OKieland the snow melts fast too. You sure did get dumped on, very pretty though.

To answer your question, does not snow here in the city, but it snowed when we vacationed in Death Valley, this week, and the snow melted the day after.

Yes, the snow was all the buzz amongst all my relatives in East Texas. My mom (88) didn't go out for two days! I loved seeing the pictures. In Phoenix we were having 70 degree weather while the rest of the nation was, as they say, snowed under!

I know this is an older post but I had to share my exeperience with snow in a place that hardly gets any. In Northern California, north of San Francisco, apparently there was a good amount of snow in a storm around '75. When we moved there in '78, there were many thin trees that swooped close to the ground. They had partially fallen as saplings and continued growing almost horizontally. I am sure you can still see the souvenirs there from that unusual snowfall!
Wow. FW has had a lot of snow this year. I was sad to miss the white Christmas. Something I always wanted as a kid growing up there.
