Parts of it were so beautiful and so unique for us Texans
hiking was glorious
my yard was heavily laden
but after 10 -12 inches in an area that gets a dusting that does not stick once a year
it was too much and branches were breaking everywhere
so we knocked off the beautiful heavy snow to protect our trees(much needed for summer shade)
Add 40 degrrees and sunshine and this snow covered anomoly looks
almost back to normal 2 days later:(
Does a foot of snow melt away that quickly where you live?

A frozen beauty, like Narnia.
The answer to your question is yes! I really love your first image in particular. Lovely textures. Have a happy week.
I think you took wonderful shots of your winter wonderland.
Love the new winer look!
It looks beautiful, but like us here in Southern England, I guess you're not set up to deal with that amount of snow! We didn't have as much as you, but on the mainland there were places that had as much if not more. And no, it didn't melt in two days! Hope your weather gets back on track soon.
Janice.
Terrific shots, Marcia! Right after I read an earlier post of yours about the snow, my son in Dallas called to tell me about all the snow they had there! But you're right, it doesn't hang around long. Sure was beautiful while it was there though!
Have a great week!
Sylvia
I think it's very unusual in Texas. We've had snow in December, January and again in February.
Marcia: That was such a strange happening in your world. Our trees see this so often that they withstand the snow.
I must admit I am very surprised to see Texas looking like Canada! Hope it melts soon. :)
The snow is so beautiful there..Yes, ours is melting very fast too.
Because I never see snow, I enjoy seeing these snow scenes.
Sydney - City and Suburbs
Yep just across the border here in OKieland the snow melts fast too. You sure did get dumped on, very pretty though.
Oh JIMG, those are pretty pictures but I am sure glad I don't live as far north as you do!
Happy RT!
..
Real pretty, but nice that it doesn't linger too long.
Beautiful snow scenes. And no. a foot of snow here in Connecticut doesn't melt that quickly. ;-)
It hangs around. And more is heading our way tonight.
Fantastic winter shots. Super cool.
To answer your question: no. A foot of snow that sticks here will be here until the following April.
Fine pictures, it is beautiful. I'm glad you had the experience.
Such beatiful winter scenes you captured!
Fresh snow is beautiful. I don't think I could live where it wasn't a seasonal event.
how beautiful. i love the first image the most, but i really thought all the images were outstanding.
A lot of work for all the snow! But I should say your photos are outstanding.
To answer your question, does not snow here in the city, but it snowed when we vacationed in Death Valley, this week, and the snow melted the day after.
I love your pictures. They are so beautiful.
Yes, the snow was all the buzz amongst all my relatives in East Texas. My mom (88) didn't go out for two days! I loved seeing the pictures. In Phoenix we were having 70 degree weather while the rest of the nation was, as they say, snowed under!
Welcome to the land of snow and ice! We have more snow today, I don't mind it at all!
Thank you for visiting My Muskoka !
nothing is meltig here, and if it does it just freezes again
and it is snowing again today!!
I love the bits of red in this post even if it isn't your official RT ;)
looks like Sweden :)
Our Ohio snow hasen't melted like yours..We are getting more LOL
Heavenly snow... Our foot of snow -well, make that two - has been here for two months now!
Lovely snowy photos, so much snow this year I agree.
Pretty Pictures! I don't ever remember getting that much snow in Texas growing up!
Our snow melted really fast too. Great pics. Happy Ruby Tuesday
Only in Texas, beautiful yet destructive.
Your snow pictures are so beautiful !
Yes, Marcia, here, white snow on the morning, grey mud at midday.
I know this is an older post but I had to share my exeperience with snow in a place that hardly gets any. In Northern California, north of San Francisco, apparently there was a good amount of snow in a storm around '75. When we moved there in '78, there were many thin trees that swooped close to the ground. They had partially fallen as saplings and continued growing almost horizontally. I am sure you can still see the souvenirs there from that unusual snowfall!
Wow. FW has had a lot of snow this year. I was sad to miss the white Christmas. Something I always wanted as a kid growing up there.
